I don’t think I mentioned the scheduled completion for the house, but what an eventful few weeks it’s been. Really I should have blogged about this earlier, but I’ve been bad about that. The orientation and signing of the docs at title was supposed to be last Monday, and that would make the final closing yesterday. Well, after they put the rock on the house, I discovered it was the wrong one. It was the right one as far as they were concerned, but we chose the color scheme of the model, and apparently the builders have no idea where that rock came from. This ended up being a huge, long drawn-out deal.

So, after many talks with many people, we were able to get the rock changed to another color scheme similar to that of the model. So, they pushed back our orientation a day. Well, the mortgage company (which we hate) didn’t have docs available either, so it pushed back the signing a day as well. So, the day that we chose the new rock design came. The next day I get a call from the builder saying that our stainless-steel stove was stolen. Fortunately they caught the guy(s), and apparently it was part of some ring in Tucson. The group has stolen like 50-60 stainless-steel appliances. So, I can only assume that one of the construction guys is telling someone who has stainless-steel. Anyway, naturally we weren’t able to close yesterday. The stove is now police evidence, so they had to reorder our stove. The positive thing is that the builder is paying us $150/day past closing for expenses. I should know more about the new closing date soon…
