James Burke is a Member of Technical Staff S/W at NetApp. He is currently assigned as a Software Engineer to the Windows® SAN Host Integration and Interoperability group. In this position, James works on two products. First, the development of the FCP Windows Host Utilities. The Host Utilites contain the software components you need to configure a Microsoft Windows 2000 and 2003 machine into the host component of a NetApp SAN environment. Second, he works on the driver and application installation for the Data ONTAP® DSM for Windows MPIO. This is the Windows Multi-Path I/O solution for NetApp.

James began his career at NetApp on October 3, 2005. Prior to his current position, James was a Software Test Engineer at IBM Corporation in Tucson, AZ. It was at IBM where he learned about the enterprise storage industry. James was responsible for SAN testing through various McDATA and Brocade fibre channel switches. The purpose was to qualify these switches with various IBM disk storage, tape storage, and servers.

James has a broad experience with technology. He began programming at the age of 12, writing various applications and door games for Bulletin Board Systems (BBSs) before the Internet was widely available. Some of his programs included: CallView, T-Menu, Legend of Tenochtitlan, WinReport 2000, etc. Most of the applications were written in Visual BASIC, however, at the age of 14, James began writing CallView in Borland Turbo Pascal. It wasn’t until age 18 that James began to pursue Java, C, and C#. Visit the Software page for more information.

James holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from New Mexico State University.

Thanks, Joey! You should start a blog as well, so you can talk about your future trip to Japan. I think it would be cool to hear the play-by-play of your experiences overseas.
